Moses Rahnama
CEO
Moses Rahnama has over 12 years of experience in various research, product development, and investing functions at leading firms within the financial sector with a heavy focus on Energy & Clean Tech. He was the 5th employee of the global research and data powerhouse EnergyAspects (now 200+ employees), where he helped build many research and data products from the ground up, while serving as an energy markets analyst. He wrote and co-authored over 500 research pieces during his 4 years at the firm, and his research was frequently featured in leading media such Bloomberg and Financial Times. His investing experience includes Equities Analyst at leading hedge fund Millennium Management and Quantitative Commodities Analyst at DRW.
He holds a BSc in Computer Science from Shahid Beheshti University, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Charles W. Calomiris
Chief Economist
Professor Charles W. Calomiris is Henry Kaufman Professor Emeritus of Finance at Columbia Business School, Professor Emeritus of International and Public Affairs at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs, and Dean of the Center for Politics, Economics and History at the newly forming University of Austin. Professor Calomiris is a member of the Financial Economists Roundtable and the Shadow Open Market Committee and is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. He recently served as Chief Economist and Senior Deputy Comptroller at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. He has been a visiting scholar or consultant to many central banks and regulatory agencies around the world and is the author of hundreds of academic articles and books, including some that employ hedonic pricing models and machine learning.
He holds a BA in Economics from Yale, and PhD in Economics from Stanford.
Marc Al Haj
Quantitative Researcher
Marc Al Haj is constructing Mina’s data pipeline. Prior to joining the firm, Marc worked at a Houston-based hedge fund called Trust Asset Management where he was a financial engineer and quantitative developer. Marc brings to the table the technical know-how of developing and maintaining data pipelines. He has previously worked in the real estate division of J.P. Morgan where he researched and constructed alternative data indicators to enhance the predictive power of the firm’s model for the Home Price Index. Marc’s previous work also involves conducting investment evaluations of private real estate projects and supporting development operations of a $180M residential project in Corpus Christi, TX.
He holds a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Tech, MS in Financial Engineering from Columbia.
Fuad M. Youssef
Quantitative Developer
Fuad M. Youssef is an award-winning app developer with a wealth of experience in software engineering from his 4 years in the tech industry. This includes 2 years at NCR where he was responsible for developing and deploying updates to the Engage mobile application used by tens of thousands of users on a daily basis. His time as a published Computational Linguistics Researcher at Georgia Tech has also provided him with a background in data processing and time series analysis.
He holds a BS in Computer Science and Chinese from Georgia Tech, MS in Financial Engineering from Columbia.
